          Heat resistant transistors
TranSiC AB is manufacturing current and heat resistant transistors where the key material Silicone (Si) has been replaced by Silicone Carbide (SiC).
        1. The SiC-transistor's heat resistance has a great advantage in situation where ordinary Si-transistors need cooling or can not be used due to high environmental temperature.
        2. In an electric welding unit
equipped with SiC-transistors, you can exclude the whole cooling unit and gain in both weight and production costs. The motor electronics inside a electric hybrid car must be able to withstand both very high currents and temperatures over 130°C.
 3. The high switching speed of the transistor makes it possible to manage with less electronic auxiliary components. With a large truck, this could mean several hundred kilos less weight in electronics.
 4. 60% of all electric energy in Europe is used on electric motors. With SiC-transistors in the motor controls, the heat losses could be reduced with approximately 2%.
