The picture is showing a cross section of a human eye undergoing a cataract
surgery. Through a just a few millimeter long incision, the surgeon has
inserted a thin tube which with the help of ultrasound can disintegrate
the content of the dimmed lens. The cataract affected content can then
with great caution be sucked out through the tube.
Through the same incision, the surgeon can then insert the new artificial
lens and place it where the old lens was.
